Different Drums bring the indigenous drums of Ireland, the Lambeg and the Bodhran together for the first time ever in celebratory performance.

The music also features the Uilleann or elbow pipes, whistles, guitar, snares, long drum, 4 voices and is driven by the engine of the African djembe. Adding myriad percussion and other instruments to original and traditional songs makes a unique and exciting combination of traditions and sounds. A unique celebration of cultural diversity and linkages.

This recording is a mixture of tunes and songs, some traditional with a new twist, some new all uniquely Different Drums. This is our first recording with Richard Campbell, Snare drummer and wearer of checked skirts.

Rik joined the band in 2005 and has brought new sounds and influences to the Different Drums palette. He comes from three generations of Drummers and Pipers.

We also have some guest musicians working with us to extend our musical palette and the band members have some different sounds to offer. In some of the tracks we have explored the mixture of Irish traditional and pipe band musical structures, we are also combining Uilleann and Small Pipes. We even managed to squeeze in a didjeridu and a verse in Creole.
