Band Background

Different Drums brought the indigenous drums of Ireland, the Lambeg and the Bodhran together for the first time ever in performance.

The music features the Uilleann or elbow pipes, whistles, guitar and vocals and is driven by the engine of the African djembe. Different Drums adds percussion and other instruments to original and traditional songs to create an exciting combination of traditions and sounds.

From performances at state occasions in the White House and for Irish Presidents, from crowds of 40,000 to workshops with schools and small groups of children affected by the N Irish conflict, the music of Different Drums symbolises in a small way the capacity of the people of N Ireland and beyond to see the benefits of collaboration and cooperation toward a peaceful and inclusive society.
